Cities / Colmar

France

Colmar: Alsace, four times a border, and the altarpiece that stayed.

Colmar looks German and votes French, and a historian explains why in two hours. The old town of the imperial free city, the Isenheim Altarpiece at Unterlinden, the house of Bartholdi who built the Statue of Liberty, and the four changes of nationality between 1871 and 1945.

Questions

About Colmar.

Is Unterlinden included?

The museum has its own ticket. The walk explains the altarpiece and the convent from outside; we can time the walk to end at the door.

Can we add a wine village?

Yes, with transport. A morning walk in Colmar and an afternoon in Eguisheim or Riquewihr with the same historian is a common request.

Cancellation?

Free cancellation up to 7 days before the walk. Within 7 days the walk is non refundable, since the historian has reserved the time. We reschedule for severe weather at no cost.
